Larry W. Baril

LEWISTON – Larry W. Baril, 89, died on Thursday, June 20, 2024, at Marshwood Nursing Home, in Lewiston after a long illness. Born in Lewiston on March 16, 1935, he was the son of Henry and Irene (Baron) Baril. Larry resided in Auburn most of his life.

Larry was a pulp truck driver in Hebron at the age of 14. He served in the United States Navy. His first job was at Whiteholm Farm Dairy in 1955 managing their milk operation for 21 years as their production manager.

In 1960, he began working part time for Dubois Furniture. Whiteholm was sold to Roland Hemond and he worked at Hemonds Dairy until they sold in 1987. In 1988 he started a new career at the International Paper in Auburn as a roll storage forklift driver until March 31, 2000, when he retired. Larry was a very hard worker and was not afraid to put in overtime at any given time. He was proud of the fact that he never missed a day of work.

Larry was a very happy-go-lucky person, always had a smile on his face and was very proud of his eight children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed boating, and spending time with his grandchildren and enjoyed going on long hikes and of course Turner Classic Movies. He enjoyed going to Foxwoods with his wife Georgianna, traveling in their RV and making a trip out of it for days enjoying the scenery and each other. He will be missed dearly.

Larry is survived by his seven children; Larry Baril (Cindy), Betty Felton (Doug), Linda Wyman, Phil Baril (Rachel), Danny Baril (Jeanne), Randy Baril (Kelly), and Laurie Dumont (Tony). He also leaves behind his stepson Brian Chateauvert (Jane Marie) of Mass. and stepdaughter Karen Flagg of Livermore, grandchildren; Chad Baril, Kim Guay, Douglas Felton, Amy Kostos, Dan Wyman, Jason Wyman, PJ Baril, Jenn Doucette, Ryan Baril , Nathan Baril, Sarah Baril, Stephanie Baril, Felicia Baril, Derek Baril, Lyndsey Turmel, Nicholas Baril, Jacob Dumont and Jessica Mihalakis, many great-grandchildren and his sister, Mrs. Gene Janet Innacone.

Larry was predeceased by his first wife, Barbara (Gauthier) Baril as well as his second wife, Georgianna P. Baril. He was married to both women for over 33 years each. He was also predeceased by his son, Stephen H. Baril, his sister Mrs. Russell Carmen Varney of Bosse, N.C., stepsons, Michael Chateauvert and James Chateauvert and stepsister Pamela Barker and a stepgranddaughter, Jeanie Hallowell. He was also preceded in death by his three brothers, Phillip Baril of Poland, and Paul Baril of Turner, and Henry Baril Jr.

A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday July 6, 2024, at 10 a.m., at Gracelawn Memorial Park, 980 Turner Street, Auburn. All family and friends are welcome.
