MECHANIC FALLS – Sandra A. Ballard, 81, of Mechanic Falls, passed away June 17, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born Nov. 1, 1942, in Raymond, to parents Jim and Dot Plummer. She graduated from Mechanic Falls High School in 1961.

She was a stay-at-home mom for many years and during that time she babysat many children. She was a lunch lady at the Molly Ockett School in Fryeburg for many years.

She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years Stacy Ballard; her parents, Jim and Dot Plummer; daughter-in-law Ronda Ballard; son-in-law Gary Gravel; brothers, Preston (Kickie) Plummer and Randy Plummer, sister-in-law Joan Plummer; and niece Theresa Emery.

She is survived by children Michelle, Michael (Jen), Melissa (Jim), Mark (Tammy) and daughters Rosalie (Roger), Terri (Phillip), 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by siblings, Jimmy (Ruth), Sheila (Chubb), Penny (Bud), Billy, Ricky (Lori), Rudy and Claudia (Dan); and many nieces and nephews.

We would like to thank Mom’s hospice nurses Paulette and Rebecca for their wonderful care and guidance.

There will be a celebration of Mom’s life on Friday, July 12, 2024, from 2–4 p.m., at the American Legion Post #150, 41 Elm St., Mechanic Falls.
