LEWISTON — With not much more than a post on social media, El Rodeo announced it opened its doors at 736 Sabattus St. on Monday, in the former Burnt Ends location.

The restaurant says it offers authentic Mexican food using fresh ingredients and is owned and operated by a 28-year-old who is originally from Mexico.

The small group of restaurants opened its first location in South Portland in 2013, according to its website, and has added locations in Brunswick, Scarborough and now Lewiston.

El Rodeo boasts a daily happy hour with drink and food specials to lure customers with $1.49 tacos and $6.49 jumbo house margaritas.

The lunch menu has 19 items listed with two vegetarian options. The dinner menu is lengthy, at seven pages long and offers nine vegetarian choices, plus quesadillas, seafood entrees, burritos, enchiladas, fajitas and eight house specialties.

The restaurant also offers a kids menu.

El Rodeo’s Facebook page says it is open seven days a week from 11 a.m.-9 p.m., with hours extended to 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
