BETHEL — A Gilead man wanted in connection with two violent incidents July 4, turned himself in to Oxford County Sheriff’s deputies Monday morning, according to Sheriff Christopher Wainwright.

Jacob McGurn, 28, was arrested about 10:30 a.m. in Bethel and taken to the Oxford County Jail in Paris.

He is charged with reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon, terrorizing, domestic violence assault, domestic violence criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon and driving to endanger, according to Wainwright’s news release.

Deputies responded to reports of a weapons offense about 4 a.m. Thursday on Gilead Road in Gilead and learned McGurn had a confrontation with a man at a residence and fired several shots in his direction. He fled before deputies arrived.

They also learned McGurn was suspected of being involved in another violent confrontation in Bethel earlier in the day. Deputies seized several firearms and collected evidence at both scenes, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
