RUMFORD — Davita Briggs, a Rumford Hospital Emergency Department nurse, is the recipient of the DAISY Award.
The award is an international recognition program that rewards and celebrates the extraordinary, compassionate and skillful care nurses give daily.
Briggs, who has a supervisory role in the inpatient unit, was nominated by Meridith Alanska, who described her fellow team member’s heroic efforts following a multi-vehicle accident that led to four victims being rushed to the Rumford Hospital Emergency Department, according to a Central Maine Healthcare news release.
“Davita stepped up and took control of the situation,” Alanska said. “She confidently and caringly managed the team during a very difficult time for everyone. She showed extraordinarily compassionate care to this family. Davita was a true team player and made sure everyone around her was okay after the situation calmed.”
