The 2024 Norway Triathlon was held July 13 at Lake Pennesseewassee Park. This marked the 15th consecutive year the Norway Triathlon has been held, attracting participants and volunteers from Maine, New England, and beyond, according to a news release from Kelli Shedd with the trust.

This year’s event was also the largest it has been since the pre-COVID era, with 132 individual and team racers.

The top overall male finisher was Brandon McCrossin, 41, from Westbrook, with a race time of 1:10:07.

The top overall female finisher was Leah McCrossin, 43, from Westbrook, with a time of 1:11:49.

The top male team finishers were Chicken Dinner with a time of 1:27:23.

The top female team finishers were Worth a Tri with a time of 1:39:52.

The top coed team finishers were Creative Name Pending with a time of 1:31:19.

Nearly 50 volunteers helped to prepare the course, post race snacks, and water stations for the racers and to cheer on everyone in the event.

Sponsors for this year’s event included Platinum Sponsor: Maine Beer Company; Gold Sponsor: Cafe Nomad; Silver Sponsors: Stephens Memorial Hospital and Oxford Hotel and Casino; and Bronze Sponsors: Black Dog Timberworks, H.E. Callahan, Oxbow Brewing, Bancroft Contracting Co., Paris farmers Union, Austin Associates, and Norway Brewing Company. In-Kind Sponsors providing prizes, safety, and food and drink included Trustrength Athletics, Whites Marina, Carter’s XC, PACE Paramedics, Fare Share Food Co-op, CEBE, True North Adventureware, and SweatVac.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Western Foothills Land Trust and support its conservation efforts in western Maine. The Norway-based trust protects more than 9,000 acres, and maintains over 34-miles of recreational trails in the Oxford Hills region.

The 2025 Norway Triathlon is set for Saturday, July 12; registration will open Feb. 1, 2025.
