MINOT — The Select Board approved the policy revising the sale of foreclosed properties Monday at night’s session.

The new policy incorporates changes made to the Maine law, H.P. 1452 -L.D.2262 which was signed by the governor in April and went into effect July 16.

The revised law and policy has municipalities returning any excess proceeds from the sale of a foreclosed property to the former owner after collecting the tax debt.

The Select Board is letting residents know that a new vote will be taken on Regional School Unit 16 budget validation referendum on Tuesday, July 30.

The initial budget of $29.3 million failed on the June 11 referendum ballot.

The revised budget of $28.8 million passed the first step of the approval process on July 16 at the district town meeting format.

The second step is the single question referendum ballot requiring a yes or no vote.

Polls at the town office on 329 Woodman Hill Road will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
