NORWAY — A three-day boil water order has been lifted for Norway Water District customers after test results received Monday showed no signs of bacteria in the water, according to the district’s website.

A & L Laboratory, an Auburn-based state of Maine drinking water laboratory, conducted the tests that showed no sign of bacteria.

The boil order was issued Friday as a precaution due to a water main break, but was lifted three days later on Monday.

The July 19 order only applied to Norway residents. It did not pertain to those using wells or anyone who uses the Oxford Water District.

The order advised water district customers to “boil all water for one minute at a rolling boil before drinking, making ice cubes, washing foods, brushing teeth, or in any other activity involving consumption of water.”
