FRYEBURG — Maine Drug Enforcement Agency agents and Fryeburg police arrested a Bridgton man Friday as part of a drug trafficking investigation, according to officials.
Kevin L. Thurston, 50, was arrested by MDEA agents and local police during a traffic stop on Portland Street in Fryeburg, MDEA Cmdr. Scott Pelletier said. During a search of the vehicle, police seized about 80 grams of fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine, assorted prescription pills, a loaded handgun and $3,321 in suspected drug proceeds.
Thurston was charged with three counts of unlawful aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs and unlawful possession of a firearm by a prohibited person. He was transported to the Oxford County Jail in Paris and bail was set at $10,000 cash.
Police conducted the traffic stop after surveilling a home at 107 Portland St. as part of a yearlong investigation of the address, Pelletier said. The investigation was sparked by several tips from the public that suspicious activity was taking place there, he said.
After Thurston’s arrest, MDEA agents from the Western District Task Force assisted Fryeburg police in executing a search warrant for 107 Portland St. The search on the house yielded about 60 grams of fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine, assorted prescription pills and capsules, and six firearms.
Pelletier said the homeowner was not there at the time of the search. More charges related to the seized contraband and additional arrests are expected, he said.
