WATERVILLE — Police chased a vehicle at about noon Monday from Waterville into Oakland because the driver was suspected of having an outstanding warrant and driving after suspension.

Maj. Jason Longley of the Waterville Police Department said a city officer tried to stop the vehicle on Kennedy Memorial Drive, but the driver did not stop and continued into Oakland, where the officer discontinued the chase.

Oakland police and the Maine State Police continued the chase, according to Longley, who said he understood they eventually called off their pursuit of the fleeing motorist.

“At this point, we believe the suspect to still be at large,” Longley wrote in an email at 1:17 p.m.
