Robert Butterfield IV, 17, who will be a senior this fall at Mt. Abram High School, was presented the Eagle Scout medal during a ceremony July 27 at the Strong Methodist Church. He continues to work on merit badges, and Scouts earn one palm for five extra badges beyond the ones required to make Eagle. He has earned enough additional badges beyond those required for Eagle to receive his bronze and gold palms. He can continue to earn badges until he turns 18, according to a news release from Chuck Mahaleris, district chairman for the Kennebec Valley District of Scouting.

Carter Butterfield received his Eagle Scout rank at the end of 2022. Jacob Butterfield earned Scouting’s highest award in 2020. Ben Butterfield climbed to Scouting’s highest peak in 2018.

For his Eagle project, Butterfield built a handicapped-accessible picnic table for Shadagee Senior Housing in Phillips.
