At about 6:15 a.m., Chris Johnson of Sun Cab Co., informed police that someone had made off with one of the company’s taxis, marked Fern’s, from the rear of the parking lot on Main Street.

At the time the theft was reported, Patrolman Robert Bourassa noted that he believed he had seen the vehicle proceeding on South Main Street about 4:30 a.m.

At about 7:30 a.m., an Arkwright Avenue resident notified Lewiston police that a taxi had been abandoned at the end of that street.

Detective Marcel Belanger went to the scene and found it was the one stolen in Auburn. The vehicle was not damaged, and nothing was stolen from it, Belanger said.
