DIXFIELD — Police arrested a transient man and woman Sunday morning after responding to a reported burglary at Ellis Variety at 126 Weld St., the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office said Monday in a news release.

Charles Gannon, 31, and Misty Glover, 41, were arrested on Hathaway Road after deputies investigated a 4 a.m. burglary at Ellis Variety, Maj. Dana Thompson said in the release.

Gannon was charged with aggravated criminal mischief and refusing to submit to arrest. Glover was charged with obstructing government administration and refusing to submit to arrest.

Thompson said the deputy responding to the burglary report observed a broken window upon arrival, searched the store and reviewed surveillance video which showed Gannon smashing the window.

The deputy found him, accompanied by Glover, around 11 a.m. on Hathaway Road. Gannon fought with deputies and officers from Rumford and Mexico who were called to assist. Gannon was shot with a Taser in order to be taken into custody, Thompson said.

Both were given a mental health evaluation at Rumford Hospital before being booked at the Oxford County Jail in Paris where they remained as of Monday afternoon.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 207-743-9554, Thompson said.
