MEXICO — A Dixfield man was arrested Monday after a 9-month-old girl was found unresponsive at her home on Roxbury Road suffering from an opioid overdose and having cocaine and marijuana in her system, according to the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office.

Timothy Child

Timothy Child, 28, of Dixfield was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, unlawful trafficking of a schedule W drug and violating conditions of release, Maj. Dana Thompson wrote in a news release Tuesday. Child was on three separate sets of bail conditions at the time of his arrest.

Sheriff’s deputies, along with the Rumford Police Department and Med-Care Ambulance Service, responded Monday for a report of an unresponsive infant, who was breathing abnormally and turning blue, Thompson said.

The infant was rushed to Rumford Hospital and treated with numerous doses of Narcan, which reverses an opioid overdose. She also tested positive for cocaine and marijuana, Thompson said.

The infant was transferred to Maine Medical Center in Portland. Information on her condition was not available Tuesday afternoon.

Authorities seized about 60 grams of cocaine from the residence, Thompson said.

A second search warrant was executed at a residence on Pine Street in Dixfield, but nothing of significance related to the incident was found, Thompson said.

Child’s residence was listed at 41 Pine St., according to the Oxford County Jail log.

The case remains under investigation, Thompson said.
