PARIS — Oxford Hills school district continues its three-peat marathon to finalize its 2024-25 operating budget with a public hearing Thursday at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School’s Forum meeting room.

The third budget proposal is for $50.43 million. SAD 17 directors approved the budget Sept. 9. It eliminates another $360,150 this school year, for a total overall reduction of close to $1.18 million from the original proposal last June.

The budget eliminates an assistant principal position from Paris Elementary School, reduces supplies and benefits expenses at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School, defers maintenance to Oxford Elementary School and staggers the cost for video cameras in school vans over a period of three years.

If the most recent budget draft is validated by Oxford Hills residents during tonight’s meeting, it will be presented to voters for approval at referendum on Oct. 8 at the district’s eight sending town polling places.
