GRAY – Richard “Dick” Wood, son of Gladys C. Wood, born March 23, 1925, in St. Louis, Mo., passed away per his wishes at his farm in Gray, Maine on Sept. 14, 2024.
Dick was predeceased by his mother; and his wife, Natalie S. Wood. He is survived by his two sons, Gary (Carol) Wood and Wayne (Kathy) Wood and his daughter, Wendy (Paul) Gallagher; his four grandchildren, Alison Wood, Jeff (Autumn) Wood, Lynn (Derek Gilbert) Gallagher and Greg (Thea) Gallagher; and four great grandchildren, Olivia and Delilah Gallagher, Anson and Charlotte Wood.
Richard was a veteran USMC of World War II (Pacific Theater), 50 year 4-H leader, life member of American Legion Post #86, three term Gray Town Council member and dedicated volunteer of multiple federal, state and local committees.
The family wishes to express their thanks for the excellent care provided by Beacon Hospice and Amedisys and a very special thank you to Sharon Hatch, personal assistant, caregiver and friend to Richard for the past year, without whom we would have been lost.
Per his wishes there will be no services.
