The fire was elevated to a 2nd alarm due to the involvement of a trapped occupant with several towns’ fire departments called in for mutual aid, but the fire was almost entirely knocked down upon their arrival.

As of 5 p.m., a firefighter at the scene said the Office of State Fire Marshal was sending out a fire marshal to investigate.

First responders closed Winter and Beal streets.

Mutual aid included fire departments from Mechanic Falls, Otisfield, Oxford, Paris and West Paris.
