Carol Ann Coffin

FALMOUTH – Carol Ann Coffin, 81, died as she lived, under her own terms, replete with garden gloves on, weeding her yard, and with her beloved dogs Bella and Chloe, by her side at her home in Falmouth.

She was born in Lewiston on Jan. 20, 1943, the daughter of the late Carmeline and Armand Bolduc. She grew up in the Lewiston-Auburn community and graduated from Lewiston High School in 1961. Carol became a licensed beautician after high school and married George (Frank) Coffin in May 1963; they divorced in June 1997.

Carol had many passions over her lifetime, she was an artist completing many oil paintings, a seamstress, a horse woman, and the last 30 years of her a life she spent working with stained glass creating lamps, hangings, ornaments, and mosaics. She was an active member of the Italian Heritage Club in Portland.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Carmeline and Armand Bolduc; and her aunt, Nell Tonoli.

She is survived by her only child, Sheri Shaw and son-in-law, Stephen; and three beloved grandsons, Graham, Logan, and Liam Shaw; her extended family, Lewiston natives, cousins who were like brother and sister, Linda (and husband Raymond) Tardiff, and Richard Tonoli.

The family would like to thank all those who helped Carol in recent years, including the entire Brookside Drive neighborhood, and her dear friends Cindy Smith and Laura Casparius, as well as countless others too numerous to list.

Funeral services honoring Carol’s life will be celebrated on Monday, Oct. 14, at 11 a.m. at the Fortin and Pinette Group at 217 Turner St. in Auburn. A memorial gathering will be held on Sunday, Oct. 13, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Fortin and Pinette Group 217 Turner St. in Auburn 783-8545. At that time, the family will invite guests to choose a stained glass hanging as a memory of her.

Those wishing may make donations in Carol’s memory to the: Animal Refuge League of Portland that would honor her as a life-long animal lover
