WALES — For the second straight year, voters in Sabattus, Wales and Litchfield are facing a fourth referendum on the budget for Regional School Unit 4.
The school board held a public budget meeting and vote Oct. 23, approving a new fiscal year 2025 budget of $22.63 million, which is an increase of $1.05 million, or 4.91%, over the approved FY24 budget.
The original FY25 budget of $23.38 million was voted down June 11, the second budget of $22.71 million was voted down July 30, and the third budget of $22.67 million was voted down Sept. 24. The latter lost by 19 votes.
Turnout is expected to be higher because of the general election.
The polls open at the Wales Town Office, 175 Centre Road, at 6 a.m. Tuesday and close at 8 p.m.
Polls will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Litchfield Sportsman’s Club, 2261 Hallowell Road, and the Sabattus Town Office, 190 Middle Road.
