PARIS — Free to the public, Paris Public Library is hosting the No Shelf-Control Author Showcase at the Deering Memorial Community Center on Saturday, November 9, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will feature an opportunity to meet and chat with various Maine authors, who will share morning and afternoon readings. There will be gift bags for every guest (while supplies last), and a door prize.

Founded by Mid-Coast Maine authors Danielle Bannister and Carley Packard (former Oxford Hills resident), No Shelf-Control’s November Paris session is the first outside of the mid-coast area. It includes historical fiction authors Irene Drago (Daughters of Long Reach, Lavinia Wren and the Sailmakers, The Maine Point), women’s fiction author Carley Packard (the River Runs North series), romance author Danielle Bannister (Girl on Fire, Safe House), memoir author Brenda E. Smith (Becoming Fearless), dark romance author Kerry Bernard (Drained), and local author Pat Gott (Cowgirl Country and Buck, The Plight of a Pryor Mountain Mustang).

Says Bannister, “After a decade of writing with over twenty-five titles published, I wanted to find a way to reach more readers in my home state. I spoke with Carley Packard, an up-and-coming author, and we thought what better way to do that than to bring local authors into local venues to showcase their work with readings and meet and greets.”

Adds Packard, “Self-promotion for newer authors can be a daunting task. This event, however, creates group promotions allowing for confidence-building opportunities as well as networking with fellow authors of various experiences. All the while growing our fan base.”

There will be something for every reader at the showcase, from a fascinating adventure memoir in Africa to women’s, literary, dark fantasy, and Maine historical fiction – and plenty of romance!”

The No Shelf-Control partners Bannister and Packard plan to continue hosting other events around the state that will shed light on the plethora of talented, perhaps not yet such well-known, Maine authors.
