NORMAN, Okla. — Jovantae Barnes ran for 203 yards and three touchdowns, and Oklahoma defeated Maine 59-14 on Saturday.
Jackson Arnold passed for two touchdowns and ran for another and J.J. Hester had four catches for 112 yards and a score for the Sooners (5-4), who snapped a three-game losing streak. Oklahoma gained a season-high 665 yards, including 381 on the ground.
Carter Peevy passed for 123 yards and ran for 30 for Maine. The Sooners held the Black Bears to 251 yards.
Maine (4-5), a Football Championship Subdivision program, fell to 4-27 all-time against Football Bowl Subdivision opponents.
Maine scored on its opening possession when Peevy connected with Cooper Heisey for a 3-yard touchdown pass.
Oklahoma immediately recovered. Barnes ripped off a 74-yard run on the first play of the ensuing possession, then scored on a 2-yard run two plays later.
Oklahoma poured it on after that. Arnold completed a 90-yard touchdown pass to Hester that put the Sooners up 28-7 in the second quarter. It was the second-longest touchdown connection for the Sooners in Memorial Stadium history.
The Sooners gained 402 yards before the break – a season-high for an entire game – to take a 35-7 lead.
BOWDOIN 35, BATES 24: Peter Macaulay threw for 272 yards and five touchdown to lift the Polar Bears (3-5) past the Bobcats (2-6) in Lewiston.
Jed Hoggard, Jake Gaylord, Brennan Pagan, Ty Connolly and Austin Hiscoe each had a TD reception for Bowdoin.
Ryan Lynskey rushed 20 times for a school-record 351 yards and three touchdowns for Bates. Sean Atkins set the previous record of 302 yards against Bowdoin in 2003.
CURRY 24, UNE 10: Michael Moriarty completed 11 of 23 passes for 120 yards, including a 6-yard touchdown pass to Pat Leary in the second quarter, and the Colonels (3-5, 1-2 CNE) beat the Nor’easters (3-5, 1-1) in Biddeford.
UNE’s Chris Lang completed 17 of 35 passes for 219 yards, with a TD pass to Shane LaPorte.
HUSSON 49, WESTERN NEW ENGLAND 42: Jed Lober scored on an 11-yard run in the first overtime and the Eagles (6-2, 3-0 CNE) beat the Golden Bears (4-4, 1-2) in Bangor.
Max Clark completed 21 of 29 passes for 319 yards and five touchdown for Husson. Nason Berthelette caught five passes for 92 yards and two touchdowns, while Cam Holmes had three catches for 86 yards and two TDs.
De’Andre Harris made five catches for 100 yards and two touchdowns for Western New England.
TUFTS 28, COLBY 21: Christian Shapi rushed 20 times for 110 yards and two touchdowns as the Jumbos (6-2) beat the Mules (3-5) in Waterville.
Michael Berluti was 20 of 28 for 268 yards passing and a touchdown for Tufts.
Miles Drake scored his second touchdown of the game with 2:57 left in the fourth quarter to pull Colby within seven, but Tufts was able to run out the clock on its final drive to hang on and win.
Keon Smart added 94 yards rushing for Colby, while Drake threw for 215 yards and a touchdown.
