LEWISTON — The University of Maine at Augusta Lewiston Center has planned an open house for its dental assisting programs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, at 51 Westminster St.
This drop-in event is an opportunity for prospective students, parents and the community to learn more about careers in dental assisting.
Those who attend can get a tour of the center’s newly expanded dental clinic and can learn more about the dental assisting and EFDA program requirements, information on the admissions process, and financial aid and tuition resources.
Attendees can also learn about the various scholarships offered by UMA, including the Pine Tree State Pledge and UMA $10K, that offer no-cost, or low-cost, tuition to qualified students, according to a news release from James Bradley, the center’s director.
UMA’s Dental Assisting program is the only public accredited program in Maine which allows graduates to immediately sit for the Dental Assisting National Board–Certified Dental Assisting exam which also qualifies them for licensure in dental radiography from the Maine Board of Dental Examiners.
