LEWISTON — Police located a stolen car out of Portland after ending a brief, but potentially dangerous chase, Monday night.

Lewiston Police Lt. Derrick St. Laurent said officers received information just after 7:30 p.m. Monday that a recently stolen vehicle out of Portland was in the downtown area. Police were able to locate it, however the driver refused to stop and fled the area.

“LPD terminated the stop due to safety concerns and the vehicle was later located unoccupied,” St. Laurent said.

A 17-year-old boy was later found and arrested in connection with the theft.

St. Laurent said the juvenile was charged with vehicle theft and was transported to Long Creek Youth Development Center in South Portland due to being on probation.
