HARRISON — Bolsters Mills United Methodist Church, 664 Bolsters Mills Road, has announced its Advent schedule.
Beginning with Sunday, Nov. 24, being the week before Advent, A-J Alexander, Lay Pastor for Bolsters Mills UMC, plans to lead the morning worship by exploring “Thankfulness.” Her message will be based on many mission trips to San Felipe, Mexico and how these trips have impacted her.
The first Sunday in Advent, Dec. 1, will focus on the book “Christmas isn’t Your Birthday” by Mike Slaughter. The message is “Expect a Miracle,” with Alexander leading the worship service.
Lay Speaker Wayne Alexander plans to lead the Dec. 8 worship service with the message “Giving Up on Perfect.”
The third Sunday in Advent, Dec. 15, A-J Alexander will lead the service “Scandalous Love.”
The worship leader on Dec. 22 will be Mike Eaton, who plans to explore “Jesus wish List.”
The candlelight Christmas Eve service, set for 7 p.m. Dec. 24, will be “A Different Road,” led by Alexander.
All Sunday morning services begin at 9 a.m. both in person and streaming on Facebook live. Live music is provided by “Land and See” with Lay Leader and Music Director Tony Landsperg and David Seeley. The morning services offers fellowship and social time after worship. The church is accessible.
Two Christmas Concerts are planned, the first at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 8, at the church and the second on Sunday, Dec. 15, at The Table, 160 Main St. in Norway. There will be a love offering at both concerts to benefit the Table’s clothing ministry to buy socks and underwear. People can feel free to bring new socks and underwear; children’s and men’s are the most needed. Refreshments will be available following each concert.
A “Service of The Longest Night,” also called the “Blue Christmas,” is scheduled for 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, at The Table. This service is held to honor those who are grieving the loss of a loved one or other losses. Landsperg will lead the service with “Land and See” (Landsperg and David Seeley) providing the music.
