FRYEBURG — Fryeburg Academy’s music program plans to present its annual Candlelight Concerts at 4 and 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, at the Leura-Hill Eastman Performing Arts Center on Bradley Street.

The event combines holiday music and readings in a seamless program. Nearly 80 students are involved in this year’s performances, bringing together Fryeburg Academy’s chorus, band, chamber music ensembles, and the Valley Strings ensemble.

Highlights of the program include the Fryeburg Academy band’s performance of Robert W. Smith’s “Celtic Carol,” which is inspired by the dance and rhythmic energy of a traditional Irish holiday celebration. The chorus program features a contemplative setting of Gustav Holst’s holiday classic “In the Bleak Midwinter” and a fun and lighthearted medley from the movie “Elf.”

The audience is invited to join the chorus and band singing “It Came Upon the Midnight Clear” and “Hark the Herald Angels Sing.” Admission is free, donations will be  accepted. Doors open 30 minutes before each performance.
