CASA GRANDE, Ariz. – Thomas B. Morgan, a proud veteran of the US Navy, passed away on Sunday Dec. 1, 2024 at the age 77 after a short illness, at home with his wife by his side,
The son of Stanley and Catherine (Trainor) Morgan, he was born 21 Apr 1947 in Rumford, Maine. Tom grew up in Bryant Pond, and lived most of his life in Oxford County.
At the age of 22 Tom enlisted with the Navy and was called to active duty on Jul 1, 1968. He joined the Sea Bees and went to Port Hueneme Naval Base where he became a steelworker. He was in the MCB 58 Charlie Co. until he was discharged in 1969. He then was inactive for three years. Upon honorable Discharge Tom was given the National Defence Service Medal, Vietnamese Service Medal with FMC Combat Insignia and a Bronze Star, and a Vietnamese Campaign Medal.
He worked as a carpenter with Emery’s. Building in West Paris, Maine, a millwright at Stowle Wood Products, Bryant Pond, Manager at Paris Manufacturers sled dept. Paris, Maine. Maintenance at Norway Savings Bank Norway, Maine until retirement in 2008.
Tom was a woodsman at heart, he loved spending time in the woods whether just walking with his dog, cutting wood, or cutting trails on his property. He was an avid hunter and spent most of his free time at his camp in Riley Plantation Township. In 2010 Tom and his wife started spending their winters in Casa Grande, Ariz. where he loved to go to yard sales, play poker and enjoy eating meals at the clubhouse with friends.
Tom is survived by his wife, Jeanne of Rumford; a son Tom and his fiance Mary of Carthage; a sister and brother-in-law Donna and Norman Smith of North Yarmouth; a nephew and his wife Andy and Ann Smith of North Yarmouth, and a niece Christa and LLoyd Ayer of Masshusetts.
At Tom’s request there will be no service or celebration of life. He will be interred at Like Side Cemetery Bryant Pond in the spring.
