BETHEL — At the beginning of the month, the Bethel Chamber of Commerce put out a notice to businesses and homeowners alike, inviting them to participate in a decorating contest. The winner was to be decided by popular vote, with nominations being left up to the community. The pool included businesses and homes from all around the Bethel area.  Now, as the month draws to its end, the winners have been decided.

First and second place for the business category were awarded to Mahoosuc Realty and the Greenwood branch of Maine Line products respectively. Both of these businesses brought out their holiday best, and will be receiving cash prizes from the chamber.

The homeowner category was a bit more tricky. The Chamber of Commerce was forced to delay the results due to a low number of entries. “We had a lot of one-person votes,” said Bobbi Vadenbulcke.

The Chamber put out another request on Christmas Eve, and a winner was decided. The final winner was 355 Vernon Street, which displayed a large number of flashing lights across a full yard, decorating both the house and the trees.
