Rolande Plante Simoneau

LEWISTON – Rolande Plante Simoneau, 94, of Lewiston, passed away on Jan. 16, 2025. Rolande, the daughter of Amedee Plante and Yvonne Tardif Plante, was born August 26, 1930, in Lewiston. On May 30, 1949, she married Robert Simoneau at Ss. Peter & Paul Church and they celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary shortly before his death in 2021.

Rolande was educated in local schools including Lewiston High School and Bliss Business College. She lived briefly in Rockford, Ill. following the end of the Korean War and Robert’s discharge from the Marine Corp. Shortly after their daughter Patricia was born, they moved back to Lewiston. Rolande worked in the local textile mills and shoe factories before working for New England Furniture and NEFCO Contract Distributors as their bookkeeper for almost 50 years.

Rolande enjoyed crocheting and bingo as well as making puzzles with her husband. She remained a lifelong Red Sox / Patriots fan. Following Robert’s death, Rolande moved to The Meadows Senior Living Center in Greene where she made many special friends and was able to enjoy her final years independently.

Rolande is survived by her daughters Patricia L’Heureux and her husband Robert of Hartford, and Lisa Simoneau of Lewiston, and her son Daniel Simoneau and his husband Leonard Iaquinta of Kenosha, Wisc. Rolande is also survived by a grandchild, who was a great joy to her, Alexis L’Heureux and their husband, Dustin Spencer. She was predeceased by her husband and her parents, her sister Rita McGuigan and her husband Hugh, and her brother Marcel Plante.
