Rose-Anne Mae Abbott Ross
FARMINGTON – Rose-Anne Mae Abbott Ross, 79, mother, sister, friend, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2025. Born on Aug. 9, 1945, in Madison, she was the fifth of nine born to Helena Greenlaw.
Rose-Anne grew up in South Rumford and later settled in Bryant Pond where she raised her two sons. She later retired to Oquossoc.
She dedicated over 20 years to the Bethel school system as a beloved school bus driver, known for her unwavering commitment to the children she transported and their families.
A collector of frogs and gracious hostess, Rose-Anne often opened her home to many who needed a place to go during Easter and Thanksgiving. She shared laughter, hearty meals, stories, Miller and rosé wine.
She faced many life challenges with resilience and determination. She had a great sense of humor, she could be snarky and liked things her way. She knew what was needed and did everything in her power to make sure it happened, especially for her sons.
Rose-Anne had a passion for travel and explored most of the United States driving a motorhome. She cherished her time with her winter family in Supply, N.C. She created lasting memories with her niece, Courtney Johnson and nephew, Cowen Johnson during their numerous sleepovers, often featuring her special crepes, and peanut butter pie.
She is survived by her son, Carroll Verrill II; her siblings, sisters Nancy (Harrold) Rowley, Joyce (Steve) Aldrich, Jackie Whitman, Judy (partner Brain) Frank, Beverly (partner Mike) Chase, brother, Melford (Roseanna) Abbott and Donnie (Kay) Abbott, brother-in-law Ralph Howard; adopted niece, Kitty Johnson (Tim Curran) and numerous nieces and nephews.
