WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Mrs. Janet Best York Rolison, 88, passed away, Monday, April 14, 2025.
A native of Wayne County, she was educated at the Methodist Orphanage in Raleigh, N.C., Greensboro College and UNC Greensboro. Janet was a teacher and Registered Dietitian.
She is survived by her husband, Harry W. Rolison, whom she married in 1991, and with whom she enjoyed many outdoor activities and traveling.
She was an avid cyclist, hiker, seamstress, and quilter. She made many quilts for family and friends and donated quilts to the hospital for premature babies. Janet also made hundreds of dresses for the charity, Dress a Girl Around the World.
Janet is survived by two children from her union with the late Richard E. York, Audrey Weil (Kenneth) of Wilmington, N.C. and Alan R. York (Rebecca) of Lewisville, N.C. She is survived by grandsons, Jake Weil (Bekah), Brian Weil (Gabrielle), and Grayson York.
She is also survived by stepsons Phillip Rolison (Lisa) of Winston-Salem, N.C.; and grandsons Alexander and Benjamin; Danny Rolison of Raleigh, N.C.; Lisa (Richard) Sigler, Tyler and Grace; Chris (Tammy) and Robbie Rolison (Katy); Brian, Taylor, Kayleigh, and Logan Rolison. Janet had eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Janet’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 26, at Trinity Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Jon Gaska officiating. The family will receive friends at the church following the service.
