Carmen Lemay Godin

BRUNSWICK – Carmen Lemay Godin, 90, of Brunswick, formerly of Lewiston, passed Dec. 11, 2021. Born March 13, 1931, daughter of the late Albert and Emilia Boucher Lemay, Carmen grew up in Lewiston and attended schools there.In 1952 she married Roland Godin and they were wed 54 years until his passing in 2006. Developing lifelong friendships at various workplaces throughout her life, she retired as a Custodial Supervisor from Bates College in 1995. Carmen had many interests including cooking, sewing, knitting, home-making and traveling with her husband and family. She and Roland enjoyed winters in Florida and summers at the cottage, always looking forward to family gatherings and the scent of the ocean.Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by an infant daughter, Rolande; sisters Gracienne and Simonne (Champagne), and brothers Leo and Rosario. She is survived by her children, Georgette Dumais (Paul), Anita Burgess (Craig), Paul (Suzanne); eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister Murielle Bowie; and in-laws Theresa LaFontaine and Bert Godin; as well as many nieces and nephews.Visitation will be held at The Fortin Group / AUBURN, on Thursday, Dec. 16, from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. followed by a Mass in the upstairs main church at the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul at 11 a.m. Masks and vaccination are required and please no physical contact.
