Kathleen P. Gagne

MONMOUTH – Kathleen “Kathy; Babe” P. Gagne, 56, of Monmouth, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2021 at Androscoggin Hospice House, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Kathy was born July 23, 1965, in Lewiston, to Jean “Jim” and Bernadette (Chasse) Turcotte, the youngest of their nine children. She was raised and educated in Lewiston.

In January 1984, she began working at Bell Mfg. where she met the love of her life. She married Norman Gagne on May 4, 1984 in Lewiston. They were lifelong companions and great friends. They often referred to each other as each other’s rocks when going through tough times. They were blessed with two children; a son, Christopher, in late 1984, and a daughter, Melissa, in 1986.

She worked for SML (formerly Bell Mfg.) for over 37 years. She began in the factory and worked her way up to become one of the top sales people at the company. She was known by her colleagues as a hard worker, a trusted advisor, and a dear friend.

Kathy was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother (“Gammy”). There was nothing she loved more than spending time with her family. The bonds she had with each of her children and her grandson were indescribable. She was loving, generous, selfless, empathetic, always positive, and such an important person to so many people. She strived to bring joy and smiles to those around her and got along with everyone she met.

She loved garage saling, thrift and clearance shopping, horror movies, true crime TV, and Stephen King. Family gatherings and “Babefests”, yearly vacations to Florida, and trips to the ocean were things she always looked forward to. She also enjoyed gardening, dogs, bird watching, dining out, and playing and spending time with her grandson, Chase, the light of her life. The hole left by her absence is impossible to fill.

Kathy is survived by her loving husband Norman Gagne of Monmouth; her son Christopher Gagne and his partner Kyle Steele of Winthrop, her daughter Melissa Gagne and grandson Chase Gagne of Monmouth. She is also survived by her eight siblings, Claudette Turcotte of Lewiston, Denis Turcotte of Lewiston, Michael Turcotte and his wife Jodi of Lewiston, Rachel Ayo of Lewiston, Patricia Martin and her husband Glenn of Buckfield, William Turcotte and his wife Peggy of Phippsburg, Janet Bilodeau and her husband Dave of Sabattus, and Louise Austin of Lewiston. She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Jeannine Gagne of Lewiston; brothers-in-law, Gerry Gagne and his wife Laura of Lakeland, Fla., Mark Gagne and his partner Wendy Kennedy of Wales, Steve Gagne and his husband Peter Pope of Auburn, and by her best friend and “sister from another mister” Peggy Sue Gagnon of Turner. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and friends who were always treated as family and that she loved so dearly.

Kathy was predeceased by her parents, Jean and Bernadette Turcotte; her father-in-law, Richard Gagne; as well as her niece and nephews, Christina and Shannon Ayo and Dana Bilodeau.

Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
