MINOT — Voters will decide on 54 articles at Saturday’s town meeting beginning at 9 a.m. at the Minot Consolidated School, 23 Shaw Hill Road.

Two major spending articles will see residents vote on increasing the Fire and Rescue Department line for the purchase of self-contained breathing apparatus units and replacing the Highway Department’s 16-year-old plow truck.

Town Administrator Danielle Loring said the Fire Department’s breathing units are nearing their expiration dates and the cost to keep the Sterling plow truck on the road hit $25,000.

Voters will be asked to approve spending up to $200,000 for the plow truck.

Loring said the new truck would not be available until the fall of 2023.

She said the 2023 budget represents a 6% increase over the current municipal budget of $1.99 million. The new budget also includes a 9% increase in the Androscoggin County assessment.

Selectman Daniel W. Gilpatric and William “Bill” Perry are running unopposed to fill two three-year terms on the board.

Regional School Unit 16 Director Stephen Holbrook, Whitney King-Buker and Sarah Robinson are vying for the two three-year terms on the school board. Elizabeth Martin is running unopposed for the one-year term on the board.
