DEAR SUN SPOTS: It’s that time of year when The Heywood Club on Crockett Ridge in Norway is planning the 7-Mile Yard Sale for Saturday, June 8.

This is always a favorite event in the area. Not only do we have a yard sale at the clubhouse, but many neighbors join in and have a sale at their homes. It will run from 8 a.m. to noon at the clubhouse but there will be many other yard sales in the neighborhood all day long.  This is your chance to pick up those items you have been looking for.

We are also looking for good clean, small items to sell at the clubhouse if you would like to donate something. We do not accept books, large furniture or appliances, clothing, or electronics.

Donations can be left on the front porch of the clubhouse. For more information, call Barbara Townsend at 890-2103 or Beth Abbott at 461-2334. — No name, no town

ANSWER: I can’t say enough good things about the Heywood Club, a Norway institution. Participate in this fundraiser by donating and enjoying the event. It’s a great way to socialize and find some bargains. Here’s to a lovely sunny sky for the big day!

Weekly, for six weeks at our Lewiston office, people with dementia (the artists) are paired one-on-one with trained volunteers who help them create art using imagination instead of memory. SeniorsPlus seeks volunteers to work one-on-one with participants in these classes. No art background required. Classes are Fridays from 2-3 p.m. starting June 14 through July 19.

To volunteer, or to enroll a loved one as an artist, please contact SeniorsPlus, at 795-4010, edcenter@seniorsplus.org. — Jessica, Lewiston

ANSWER: Since 1972, the organization has been improving the lives of older adults and adults with disabilities.

SeniorsPlus provides statewide services with an emphasis on Androscoggin, Franklin and Oxford counties for core services (i.e. nutrition, information and assistance) that support independent living, healthy aging, and fight isolation.

The overall program goal of SeniorsPlus is to assist older people and adults with disabilities in its tri-county area to remain safely at home for as long as possible.  Its mission is to enrich the lives of older people and adults with disabilities, their families, and communities, and to support them to make informed choices. SeniorsPlus envisions a future where all older adults and individuals with disabilities are engaged and respected while living quality, independent lives in the communities of their choice.
