The Out There Theater Company presents “The 39 Steps,” with shows beginning at 7 p.m. on Friday, July 28, at The Hill Arts , at 76 Congress St. in Portland.

“The 39 Steps,” an original concept by Simon Corble and Nobby Dimon adapted by Patrick Barlow from the novel by John Buchan and from the movie by Alfred Hitchcock, takes you on an outrageous, zany, and mysterious spy adventure full of romance and intrigue. Over 150 characters are played by four actors as they masterfully transition from apartments, to trains, to Scotland, and back again.

The production is directed by Sarah Kennedy. Additional evening and matinee performances will be held June 29 and 30 and July 5, 6 and 7. Tickets are $25; $20 seniors and students.
