On Saturday, July 13, The Maine Forestry Museum hosted its 43rd Annual Logging Parade. This year’s parade theme was “Forest Fire Prevention”. It was quite fitting that a one of a kind Smokey Bear Balloon Float led the parade along Rangeley’s Maine Street. Additionally, it is Smokey Bear’s 80th Birthday! Hundreds of smiles, waves, and birthday wishes were extended to Smokey!
The parade floats and participants were diverse. Along with the museum’s 2024 Hall of Fame inductees, floats from numerous area businesses celebrated the Forest Fire Prevention theme.
Congratulations to the 2024 Logging Parade Festival winners! Best Fitting Parade Theme: Smokey Bear Balloon Float and Ranger Kent Nelson; Float Most Appropriate to Logging: Log Puller, Bob Childs; Best Loaded Truck: JML Logging.
