1932 – 2003
AUBURN – John Baptiste Michaud Jr., 71, a former long time resident of Worumbo Estates, Lisbon, died early Monday, July 14, at Clover Hospice following a long illness.
He was born in Lewiston Feb. 11, 1932, the son of John B. and Grace Gagnon Michaud Sr. He was educated in the grammar schools of Lewiston and was a 1949 graduate of Lewiston High School.
On Feb. 6, 1954 he married the former Madeleine D. Boisvert in Lisbon Falls. Mr. Michaud was employed for many years at Belmoc and later Commonwealth shoe companies of Lewiston and then worked for the Zayre’s Corporation having spent seven years in the Lewiston store and then four years in their Augusta store before retiring in 1980.
Mr. Michaud was a communicant of St. Anne’s Parish and the Lisbon Falls Knights of Columbus Council 2358. He enjoyed making cakes and taking nature walks.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years of Auburn; one daughter, Mrs. Michael (Dee M.) Gagnon of Pittsfield; three sons, Tom M. Michaud of China, Rick M. Michaud and his wife Gail of Winder, Ga., and Jim M. Michaud and his wife Robin of Gardiner; five grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
He was predeceased by a brother, Roger Michaud May 22, 1967.
