Western Maine Knitting Guild

PARIS — The Western Maine Knitting Guild will meet at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 7, at the First Congregational Church, East Main Street, for a knit and chat.

There will also be a show and tell segment.

Rumford Seniors plan trips

PERU — The Rumford Seniors will host a bus trip to the Merrill Auditorium on Friday, Dec. 15, to see “The Magic of Christmas.” 

The price for the trip is $55. Those attending will provide their own lunch at 2 p.m. following the matinee.

The bus will leave 11:30 a.m. from the center at the Peru School. 

Plans are being made for a trip to Pennsylvania Amish Country in the spring.

Look at 4-H at library

BRYANT POND — Ron Fournier, University of Maine 4-H Camp and Learning Center director, will give a presentation on 4-H at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9, at the Whitman Memorial Library

He will tell about the 4-H center’s current programs as 4-H celebrates 10 years of partnership with the University of Maine System, Cooperative Extension and the Maine 4-H Foundation.

Fournier will share the successes of recent years and discuss programs and activities held at the center and in the community. There will be time for questions and a brief slide show.

The free program is open to the public, and light refreshments will be served.

Coats for children available in Jay

JAY — A supply of outerwear for Coats for Kids has been received by the Town Office and is available free at Depot Laundry in the Jay Plaza.

There are coats of all sizes for people in need, Town Clerk Ronda Palmer said.

Six bags of coats were received.

Homemade pies for sale

PARIS — Homemade pies for Thanksgiving will be available through AMVETS Auxiliary 777.

Pies, all made from scratch using natural ingredients, will be apple, pumpkin or custard. Orders will be taken until Saturday, Nov. 11. Apple and pumpkin are $12 and custard is $13.

Pies will be made Sunday, Nov. 19, and may be picked up from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 20, at 12 Church St. Payment will be due at the time of order.
